Non-Pharmacological Treatments (Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Annual Evidence Update 2010)


The 2010 Annual Evidence Update (AEU) , produced by NHS Evidence,  gives an overview of the most important evidence published during the period March 2009 – September 2010.

This section of the AEU contains evidence on the effectiveness of non-drug treatments for dementia. This includes evidence for the management of specific symptoms, such as dysphagia. Subtopics include:

  • Psychological interventions (2 refs).
  • Physiotherapy and related interventions (16 refs).
  • Complementary and alternative medicine (12 refs).
  • Interventions for the management of symptoms (8 refs).
