UCL Institute of Health Equity: Narrowing the Health Gap

Summary

The University College London (UCL) Institute of Health Equity has been launched to help reduce health inequalities through action on the social determinants of disease.

The UCL Institute of Health Equity is led by Professor Sir Michael Marmot and receives £1 million (over the next three years) from the Department of Health. It aims to collect the latest evidence, offer expert advice and share best practice locally and internationally. The Institute, while independent, is to be supported by UCL, the British Medical Association and independently commissioned projects.

At present, the Institute’s catalogue does not contain much information about the health inequalities and the social determinants of dementia; watch this space.
