Summary

Healthwatch is going to be the new consumer champion for both health and social care. It will exist in two distinct forms:

  1. Local Healthwatch: at the local level.
  2. Healthwatch England: at national level.

Local Healthwatch will replace Local Involvement Networks (LINks), adopting the LINks’ functions and taking on additional functions. This Department of Health report summarises the issues concerning the Local Healthwatch regulations.
