Guide for Directors of Public Health (Mental Health Strategic Partnership)

Summary

The Mental Health Strategic Partnership, working with UK mental health charities, has released six briefings on better local mental health services. These briefings were commissioned by the Department of Health and build on Government’s “No Health Without Mental Health” strategy. They address the roles of Local Authorities, Commissioning Groups, Directors of Public Health, Overview and Scrutiny Committees, Local Healthwatch, and Health and Wellbeing Boards in the improvement of mental health care, treatment and support.

The Directors of Public Health briefing explains how local Directors of Public Health can improve the mental health of everyone in their communities and tackle entrenched inequalities in health, thereby complying with the Health and Social Care Act and Public Health Outcomes Framework.
