Not the Francis Report (National Voices)

Summary

On October 15th 2012, the date when Robert Francis QC was scheduled to publish a delayed second report about failures at the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust in 2005-9, National Voices – the health and care charity coalition – have released their own “alternative” report which calls for greater urgency in improvements to patient safety and care quality.

This report warns that delays in publishing the Francis Report might in turn delay improvements to care quality in the NHS. It offers recommendations for improving patient safety and the quality of patient care, including more patient and public involvement; the re-organisation of hospital services and greater integration of health and social care.
