A survey by the Alzheimer’s Society has discovered that more than 320,000 of the 400,000 people living in the 20,000 care homes in England, Wales and Northern Ireland have dementia or severe memory problems. This estimate is almost 30% higher than previous estimates, due to the ageing population and improvements in data collection.
