Refreshing the NHS Mandate (Department of Health)

Summary

The government is consulting on an update to the Mandate to NHS England for 2014 to 2015. The NHS Mandate (published first in November 2012) defines the government’s ambitions for the NHS and relates these to the funding available. The main changes reflect (i) actions being adopted by NHS England in response to recommendations from the Francis Inquiry Report; (ii) work with NHS England to develop a vulnerable older people plan; and (iii) helping the NHS to contribute to the recovery of the economy and make best-use of scarce resources. The public consultation closes on September 27th 2013.
