Leading charities have alerted the government that more should be done to prepare for the impact of an ageing population.
A recent questionnaire by the care provider Anchor found that more than three-quarters of the 2,200 adults polled believe the government is not ready to cope with changing UK demographics. The Ready for Ageing Alliance has suggested that action now is vital to ensure a happy old age for future generations. The government, in return, says an ambitious programme of reforms is planned for the elderly and their general wellbeing.
