Dementia Awareness Raising Resource for Schools (Alzheimer’s Society / Dementia4Schools)

Summary

A resource pack to help school children become more aware about dementia was launched at the National Children and Adult Services (NCAS) conference on October 16th 2013. All schools may download the resource pack from the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP)’s Dementia for Schools website.

The resource pack has been designed to raise the insight of schoolchildren into dementia, and help to remove stigma. It may, potentially, assist in the early identification of family members who may be suffering from the condition and not yet diagnosed formally (thereby improving diagnosis rates).

The scheme is supported by Alzheimer’s Society, and forms a part of their Dementia Friendly Communities programme which is designed to improve the lives of people with dementia.
