Summary
This Department of Health report reviews current practice and knowledge about dementia care, support and research in England. It highlights where improvements are thought to be needed, including ongoing priorities such as reducing the prescription of antipsychotic medication to people with dementia.
The scale of the challenge posed by dementia is summarised. This report also offers an overview of progress on: prevention; diagnosis; living well with dementia; dementia awareness, education and training; the development of dementia friendly communities; and dementia-related research.
