Always Events® refers to those aspects of the patient experience which are so important to patients and families that health care providers should perform them universally i.e. for every patient, every time.
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) has created the Always Events Getting Started Kit to help front line providers of care to appreciate the relevance of Always Events, and consider potentially appropriate practices for implementation.
The Kit includes case studies and practical guidance on four core elements of an Always Event: (a) leadership, (b) patient and family partnership, (c) staff engagement, and (d) measurement.
