Summary
A further £240m can be claimed by NHS trusts through the second wave of the £500m Integrated Digital Care Fund (formerly known as the Safer Hospitals, Safer Wards Technology Fund). NHS trusts, and local authorities, can apply for this funding to digitise and integrate patient information across the health and care sector. The deadline for applications to the fund is July 14th 2014.
NHS England’s report “The Integrated Digital Care Fund: Achieving Integrated Health and Care Records” is an update to their 2013 report called “Safer Hospitals, Safer Wards: Achieving an Integrated Digital Care Record”. It further explains the advantages for NHS providers and improvements for patient outcomes expected by moving from paper-based record-keeping through “paper-light” systems to paperless systems.
