Summary
The first Global Dementia Legacy Event, following on from agreements made at the 2013 G8 Dementia Summit, is to be held on June 19th 2014 in London. International experts, including delegates from the World Health Organization, the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), global Alzheimer’s charities, and pharmaceutical organisations, are expected to work on devising ways to increase investment in dementia research. Topics under discussion are expected to include:
- The global challenge of dementia.
- Barriers to investment in dementia research.
- Increasing investment in dementia research and innovation.
- Financial mechanisms for increasing investment, such as a global private and philanthropic fund for dementia.
