Statins for the Treatment of Vascular Dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease (Cochrane Database)

Summary

This Cochrane systematic review assesses the clinical efficacy and safety of statins for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease and vascular dementia.

No studies exist yet assessing role of statins in treatment of vascular dementia. Analysis of four studies concerning use of statins for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease indicates no significant improvement in behaviour, global function or activities of daily living.
