Summary
NHS England has announced which voluntary sector organisations which will share £2m to provide extra help for vulnerable people most at risk over the winter. These groups include Age UK, the British Red Cross and the Royal Voluntary Service. They will run local projects to target people most at risk of avoidable hospital admission and / or who need extra support after discharge. Older people living alone, particularly, might thereby receive an improved support network.
The Nuffield Trust will act as the external assessor to evaluate the success of the selected schemes.
