Conflicts of Interest at NICE? (BBC News)


Doctors and researchers have written to MPs on the Health Select Committee, expressing concern about potential conflicts of interest at National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) regarding medicines recommendations. This debate appears to have arisen, in particular, following recent decisions concerning the wider the availability of statins for people at low risk of developing a cardiovascular event. NICE, on the other hand, believe existing rules and safeguards on conflicts of interests are adequate.
