Improvements to Care in the Last Days / Hours of Life (Department of Health)

Summary

This report assesses progress made against commitments in the “One Chance to Get it Right” report, which was released just over a year ago as a response to the Independent Review of the Liverpool Care Pathway (LCP) on improving care in the last days / hours of life.

The “One Chance to Get it Right: One Year On” report covers:

  1. The Care Quality Commission’s new inspection regime for end of life care.
  2. Recent NICE guidance.
  3. Improvements in education, training and research.
  4. Changes in professional regulation.
  5. Implementation of priorities specified in the “One Chance to Get it Right” report.
