Summary
Care and Treatment Reviews (CTRs) were introduced, as a means to reduce unnecessary admissions and avoid lengthy stays in hospital, within NHS England’s commitment to improving the care of people with learning disabilities.
The underlying philosophy behind CTRs is more widely applicable, so NHS England has plans for reviews of care and treatment to be embedded across the health and care system and become “business as usual” in NHS practice.
