Summary
Research by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) indicates that over 20 million adults in the UK can be classified as physically inactive. This is likely to increase the risk of heart disease and is estimated to cost the NHS around £1.2 billion per year, according to the BHF’s “Physical Inactivity and Sedentary Behaviour” report.
Estimated levels of physical inactivity are analysed by UK region, sex etc..
“Women are 36% more likely than men to be classified as physically inactive – 11.8 million women compared with 8.3 million men”.
