NHS Digital’s Dementia Diagnosis Data Now Includes Antipsychotic Drugs Prescribing Rate for Dementia Patients (NHS Digital)

Summary

NHS Digital dementia statistics, as published in the now expanded version the monthly Recorded Dementia Diagnoses report, indicate that 9.4% of patients with a recorded dementia diagnosis receive an antipsychotic medication prescription currently (i.e. based on data from the 6 weeks to November 30th 2017).

Further statistics in brief:

“Recorded dementia prevalence at 30 November 2017 is 0.781% (1 person in 128)… The number of people with dementia is estimated to be 645,783; of whom 68.7% have a coded dementia diagnosis recorded”.
