A systematic meta-synthesis concerning the broad topic of the experience(s) of space (whether physical, social or existential) on the part of persons living with dementia has identified four domains in the experience of “lived space”: (i) belonging (ii) meaningfulness (iii) safety and security and (iv) autonomy.
