Doubling in Global Burden of Parkinson’s Disease, 1990–2016 (Lancet Neurology)


A systematic analysis of epidemiological studies concerning the global, regional, and nation-specific prevalence of Parkinson’s Disease (and years of life lived with disability arising from this condition) notes a doubling of the burden of Parkinson’s Disease between 1990 and 2016. This trend is expected to continue for the next 30 years due to the ageing population, typically longer disease duration and the influence of possible environmental factors.
